In February, Nintendo of Japan released a special edition "Famicom" GBA along with an assortment of 10 classic NES games for the system, referring to the whole lineup as the 'Famicom Mini' series. Now, it seems Nintendo of America is going to be releasing most of the lineup in North America as well, under the 'NES Classics' label. Of course, the only game in this lineup in our realm of coverage is the original Legend of Zelda, which will be released alongside seven other titles on June 7th.
In addition, a special edition GBA SP will find its way here, sporting a look inspired by the NES controller, for the standard price of $99.99 US. A comparison between this and the Japanese special edition can be seen below.
The Famicom Mini series sold an impressive 900,000 copies within its first four weeks, and Nintendo is hoping to get a similar response here. The Legend of Zelda (and those other games) will be released on June 7th, for a suggested retail price of $19.99 US.
